Recently, our national golfing talent Md. Shakhawat Hossain Sohel took yet another important step for our nation’s golfing history. He is participating in the prestigious Asian Tour 2012, being held at Springfiend, Hua Hin.

Out of 600 contestants, Sohel finished among the top 40, emerging at number 28. Sohel’s achievement is unique because he is the only Bangladeshi in the list.  

What makes the Asian Tour especially prestigious is that hundreds of contestants from around the globe take part in the qualifying round just for a chance to take part in the main tournament. Sohel, due to his excellent performance last year, does not have to take part in the qualifying rounds to participate. This is also something no Bangladeshi has achieved before.
